Long established MacPherson Arts & Crafts began in the now-bustling town of St. Marys, Ontario. Artist and founder Joan MacPherson opened the doors in 1972 to showcase homegrown talent. That spirit of enabling others to “create their magic” quickly turned a small gallery into a full craft supply store. In the years that followed... through the 80s & 90s...we expanded to 10,000 sq ft, becoming Canada’s largest privately owned art, yarn, & craft shop. People drove as far as 300 miles to find what they needed, and if we didn’t have it, we’d find it.

More than 50 years on, our next chapter is a beautifully focused smaller, boutique-style yarn shop that celebrates quality, locality, and connection. Our yarns are locally farmed, spun, and dyed in-house, and we also curate exceptional yarns from Canadian suppliers who don’t sell online... unique finds you won’t see everywhere. We’re committed to sourcing exclusively from Canadian brands to support our makers and mills. While some blends include fibers not farmed in Canada (such as cotton or silk), we guarantee the full journey...from sourcing to spinning and dyeing...is handled by Canadian companies.

We’re building a vibrant maker hub with a full slate of lessons...knitting, crochet, weaving, spinning, and felting...and we have an in-house dye bar so you can explore color hands-on. You’ll also find a finished Weighted Therapy Doll showroom and a quiet “hallway” section for reborn doll supplies...honoring our broad craft heritage while keeping yarn at the heart.
